Rodney Murrell faces charges in Silver Spring attempted abduction
A D.C. man faces charges in connection with an attempted kidnapping at a McDonald’s in Silver Spring.
Montgomery County Police say 31-year-old Rodney Murrell, of Southeast, went up to a 13-year-old boy at the Colesville Road restaurant on Friday, told him he was a police officer, and tried to drag him out of the building.
Investigators say a security guard at the restaurant intervened, and the suspect released the boy then fled.
Police say Murrell was later found at a D.C. hospital, and that the extradition process will start once he is medically cleared.
Authorities say they have obtained a warrant, charging Murrell with attempted kidnapping and 2nd degree assault.
