Hyattsville men killed in Elkridge crash
Three people were killed Thursday morning when a car collided with a tractor trailer near Elkridge, police say.
Howard County Police say the crash happened at about 6 a.m. on Route 1, just south of Meadowridge Road. Officials say preliminarily that a Chevrolet Impala driven by 20-year-old Degly Ubaldo Monroy Melendez was going northbound at a high rate of speed when he crashed into the side of the southbound-traveling semi as he tried to make a left turn.
Melendez and his passengers, 25-year-old Carlos Osorio and his brother, 31-year-old Oscar Osorio, were all killed. All three were from Hyattsville.
The driver of the tractor trailer, a 58-year-old man, was not injured but his supervisor said he is extremely shaken up.
