Sandbags distributed in Alexandria, D.C.
Officials in Alexandria and D.C. say sandbags will be distributed Sunday ahead of Hurricane Sandy's arrival.
In Alexandria, home and business owners can get up to 5 sandbags from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Proof of residency is required. The sandbags will be distributed in two locations: George Washington Middle School parking lot, located at 1005 Mount Vernon Avenue, and the intersection of King and Lee streets in Old Town Alexandria.
In D.C. , sandbags will be given out from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. at Van Buren and 3rd Street, NW. There is five bag maximum per car.
Both a High Wind Warning and a Flood Watch are in effect from late tonight through Tuesday morning.
