7 On Your Side: Loretta Battle's cable bill dispute
A year and a half ago, a fire ravaged a New Carrollton apartment building and left a dozen families with nothing but the clothes on their backs. But one of the fire survivors says her cable company kept billing her long after the fire forced her out of her home.
Loretta Battle says she continued to get bills from Comcast for more than a year for service to her burned out apartment and the equipment lost in the fire. In January, a bill for $1,121.37 was sent to collections, even though Battle says she called Comcast the day after the fire.
“It just became so frustrating and overwhelming,” said Battle. “I didn't know what to do.”
Battle turned to 7 On Your Side and we brought the issue to Comcast.
Comcast told 7 On Your Side, “We apologize to Ms. Battle for her experience during this tough time and have worked with her to resolve this issue.”
Battle says Comcast was very apologetic and she can now focus on rebuilding her life.
“If it wasn't for 7 On Your Side I don't think that I ever would have gotten this problem resolved,” said Battle. “And for that I’m truthfully humbly grateful.”
