Cancer patients get free house cleanings
Cleaning the house can be a tough and tedious chore for just about anyone, but it’s even more difficult for someone battling cancer.
Sharon Washington knows this first-hand.
“So often after a day of work and then going to radiation you come home and you don't want to do anything but go to bed,” she said.
Washington was diagnosed with breast cancer in February. She had a Lumpectomy, then stated radiation in May. She was having trouble keeping up with things around the house until “Cleaning for a Reason” came into her life.
“To come home to a clean house - it was just God send,” Washington said.
“Cleaning for a Reason” is a non-profit that partners with maid services to offer free house cleanings to women undergoing cancer treatment.
The Maids of Alexandria is one such company. They offer four free monthly cleanings to cancer patients, and say it’s something they’re happy to do.
“We have gotten nothing but very positive remarks about how good our teams were,” said Rudy, company spokesperson.
Washington says she is truly grateful for the service, and plans to thank them by “letting other women who are going through breast cancer know about the service.”
