VETERANS DAY
D.C.-area Veterans Day closures
Veterans Day will be observed on Monday, Nov. 12, and as usual, numerous public utilities, schools and other places of business will be closed to observe and honor the men and women of our military.
Here's a list of some of the places and services that will be affected:
Banks: Most banks and financial institutions will be closed
Federal government: Closed
Schools: Schools in the District, Prince George's County, Arlington, Fauquier County, Manassas Park and Prince William County are closed. K-8 students in Montgomery County will be released after lunch. Elementary and middle school students in Alexandria will also be released early.
Libraries: Most libraries in the area, with the exception of Alexandria and Anne Arundel County, are closed.
Parking: The District, Alexandria and Arlington will not enforce parking meters.
Metrorail: Operating on a Saturday schedule.
Buses: Metrobus will operate on a Saturday schedule. RideOn, The Bus, Fairfax Connector and ART service will also be modified.
Commuter Rail: MARC and VRE trains will not run.
Manassas Veterans Day Parade: The city of Manassas will hold a Veterans Day parade through the downtown area starting at 11 a.m. Saturday. The route begins near the intersection of Quarry Road and Prescott Avenue and runs down Center Street. Roads will begin to close at 8 a.m.
