D.C. police-involved shooting leaves one hurt
A 27-year-old man was shot by an MPD officer late Wednesday night in the Park View neighborhood of Northwest Washington, officials say.
Police say three officers were patrolling the Georgia Avenue area around 10:50 p.m. Wednesday when they saw a man holding his side. As officer approached the man, he ran eastbound on Kenyon Street, police say.
When the officers found him in an alley, the man pulled out a weapon, police say. An officer then opened fire, hitting the man.
No officers were hurt, but officials say one has been placed on paid leave.
The identity of the man has not been released. The Associated Press reports that the man was conscious and breathing when he was transported to an area hospital.
An investigation is ongoing.
