Econo Lodge housekeeper assaulted; suspect at large
Police in Prince William County are searching for a man who assaulted a housekeeper at a local motel Sunday morning.
Investigators say the woman was cleaning a room at the Econo Lodge on Gordon Boulevard in Woodbridge when a man walked in and grabbed her.
"She was in tears. She was shook up real bad," said Hotel Employee Jimmy Sanders. "He tried to push her in the room, he put his hand over her mouth, she bit his hand and she came out...after that, she came out running down the hall..."
The 39-year-old woman ran looking for help. As the suspect casually walked down the hall, his image was captured by the building's surveillance cameras.
Sanders arrived moments after the assault took place.
"...he wasn't running. He was just walking, plain as day, like nothing happened," Sander recalled.
The victim wasn't physically harmed, but she was shaken by the incident.
Prince William County police released the surveillance photos Monday, hoping someone can identify the suspect.
Prince William County police are also investigating an attempted abduction at the Roadway Inn that happened Saturday morning. The two cases are not related, police add.
