If allegedly driving under the influence of drugs wasn't bad enough, ramming your car into a police station in the process of doing so might have made it worse.
City of Fairfax Police say that, indeed, a man suspected of DUI early Thursday morning crashed into the department's headquarters and caused $10,000 worth of damage.
Officials say that at about 2 a.m. Thursday, the driver of a Mercury Marquis, identified as 49-year-old Anthony John Skrobacz of Spotsylvania, drove his car through the lowered door of the garage and processing area of the Old Lee Highway station, then left the scene. No one was injured in the crash.
A short time later and about half a mile away, officers responded to a report that the same car was stopped on top of a median near the intersection of University Drive and Willard Way. Skrobacz was taken into custody and charged with reckless driving and hit and run.
