Federal prosecutors are recommending that disgraced D.C. councilman Kwame Brown serve six days of incarceration – to be served on the weekends - for bank fraud.

In a sentencing memorandum, the U.S. Attorney’s office recommends that Brown also be on parole for three years after his release. He faced up to six months behind bars.

Brown resigned his seat in June and pleaded guilty to bank fraud and a misdemeanor campaign finance violation.

He admitted that he lied about his income on bank loan applications, one of which allowed him to buy a powerboat.

Authorities say that Brown deserves some leniency because he took responsibility for his crime by pleading guilty and cooperating with law enforcement officials. He also has no prior convictions.

Brown also didn’t default on the fraudulent loan and resigned from the D.C. council, according to federal prosecutors.
