Largo water main break: Nearly 600 homes without water
Customers served by The Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission in Largo are encouraged to boil their water following a water main break this morning. The commission says the advisory will remain in effect for 36 to 48 hours after service is restored.
Nearly 600 Largo homes are without water this Thanksgiving because of the water main break.
The decades-old 16-inch line broke just before 5 a.m. leaving nearly 600 homes dry on a day when many need water to get the turkey and all the trimmings to the table.
“It’s a huge inconvenience,” says Carrie Johnson. “Now we’re going to have to try to have our Thanksgiving meal someplace else.”
Many residents tell ABC7 the main had been leaking for a while and crews had been out before to work on it.
Crews expect some full regular service to be restored sometimes this evening.
