Loudoun County detective charged with driving while intoxicated
An undercover Loudoun County Sheriff’s detective was charged with driving while intoxicated after he allegedly struck two parked vehicles in Lansdowne.
Authorities are not identifying the detective because of safety concerns and the detective's ongoing criminal cases. The detective was charged on Nov. 10.
The detective is a 10-year veteran of the force. He was placed on administrative leave.
"We hold our deputies to the highest standards and respect due process. We must allow the criminal justice system and an internal investigation to take its course regarding this matter," said Sheriff Mike Chapman in a statement. "The deputies who responded to this incident took the appropriate action and we are thankful for their dedication to this agency and to Loudoun County."
