Michael Phelps reports for jury duty in Baltimore
November 20, 2012 - 01:17 pm
BALTIMORE (AP) - Jury duty has become a spectator sport with some celebrity appearances in Baltimore.
Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps reported to the jury pool Tuesday at Baltimore Circuit Court, along with celebrity chef Duff Goldman.
Sheriff's Capt. Sam Cogen tells The Baltimore Sun that Phelps drew such a buzz that courthouse employees and other prospective jurors began crowding in to take his picture.
He says sheriff's officers had to intervene and make an announcement about courthouse conduct. Courthouse policy does not allow photographs to be taken.
Cogen says Phelps was moved to a "quiet room" for privacy.
