Police: Girl, 17, attacked in library restroom in Falls Church
A 17-year-old girl says she was attacked in the restroom of the Thomas Jefferson Library in Falls Church Tuesday night.
Police say the girl tried to ditch a man who had been watching her study at the library by heading into the women's restroom. But he followed her.
The library is a place of quiet refuge and enlightenment, the last place you would expect violence to unfold.
The girl tells police she felt a man had been watching and following her, so she ducked into the bathroom while leaving at 9 p.m.
Police say he followed, refused to leave, then touched and pushed the young woman. He fled after she kicked and screamed.
Library patrons tell ABC7 they're troubled by the brazen nature of the attack.
