Prescription drug use skyrocketing among Montgomery County teens
Montgomery County Council is searching for ways to curb an alarming increase in drug use by teens.
The drugs of choice are prescription drugs like Oxycontin and opiates like heroine.
Montgomery County Police have conducted at least 20 undercover drug buys in the last eighteen months.
Councilmember Phil Andrews met with other officials Thursday to figure out how to curb the trend.
"There's no one solution," Andrews says. "I think that's what we heard, we need education, we need intervention and you need enforcement. We do all three, We need to make sure we're doing each as affectively as possible."
The county council is looking into new education programs to help save the next generation from drug abuse.
