We are less than 24 hours away from the presidential election, and the race is tighter than ever between President Obama and Mitt Romney, the latest Washington Post-ABC News poll revealed.

The poll shows that voters across the United States are split: 49 percent support Obama, 48 percent back Romney.

Across the country, 27 percent of likely voters say they have already cast their ballot—this comes as early voting has spiked—the eight key battleground states have seen early voting increase by 35 percent, the Washington Post said.

Voters in the eight states have seemingly been in the spotlight for the campaign—38 percent of all likely voters in the battleground states say they have personally heard from the Obama campaign in just the past week; as many, 37 percent, say they have heard from Romney’s side, the Post said.
