HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) - Potomac Edison says fewer than 20 percent of homes and businesses in Garrett County are still without power a week after Superstorm Sandy dumped up to 2 1/2 feet of snow in the mountains of far western Maryland.

Spokesman Todd Meyers said Monday the company expects to have nearly all Garrett customers back up by Tuesday night at midnight. He says power would be restored to all polling places or alternate voting locations sometime Monday.

Meyers says more than 500 linesmen and several hundred tree-trimming crews are working on the problem. He says they're replacing 250 utility poles.

That's nearly three times the number of poles that were damaged across the company's seven-county Maryland service area in late June by another storm that caused extended power outages.
