2012 has once again been a landmark year worldwide, and to narrow the world's populace down to a single person or group as the "Person of the Year" is an unenviable task.

Time Magazine does it year in and year out, though, and voting has begun to earn the publication's honor for this year.

Voting for Time's 2012 Person of the Year is currently open and will run through 11:59 p.m. on Dec. 12. The winner will be announced two days later.

Among this year's nominees are President Barack Obama, United States Olympic gymnast Gabby Douglass, GOP vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan, extreme skydiver Felix Baumgartner and Psy, the South Korean rapper and Gangnam Style artist.

In 2011, Time named "The Protester" as its Person of the Year, a nod to the sweeping change that protesters across the Middle East and North Africa prompted during the Arab Spring. Other recent honorees include Obama, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and Vladimir Putin.

Of course, you were honored as Time's Person of the Year in 2006, lest you forget your incredible accomplishment.
