Tyrone Darby Jr. charged with driving under the influence, striking officers
ELKRIDGE, Md. (AP) - Two officers with the Maryland Transportation Authority Police were hurt when a car crashed into a patrol vehicle conducting a traffic stop.
Spokesman Sgt. Jonathan Green says two officers in separate patrol cars made a traffic stop about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday on Interstate 95 near Route 100 in Elkridge.
Green says the two police cruisers and the stopped car were lined up when a pickup truck rammed one patrol car.
The impact pushed the patrol vehicle into the second, which then struck the stopped car.
Green says one of the officers was hit by the car and broke his leg. The second officer sprained his leg.
The driver of the truck, 34-year-old Tyrone Darby Jr. of Baltimore, has been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.
