Wallace Maddox ejected in crash, struck by police cruiser
INDIAN HEAD, Md. (AP) - The Charles County Sheriff's Office says a police cruiser stuck a passenger ejected from a car during a chase in Indian Head. The passenger later died at a hospital.
It happened early Sunday on Livingston Road. Deputies say police saw a car speeding out of the parking lot.
A lookout was broadcast and an officer saw the car and tried to catch up with it. Deputies say the car continued speeding onto Pomfret Road when it crested a hill and struck an embankment. Both occupants were ejected.
Authorities say the officer did not see the crash and as he drove over the hill and hit one of the car's occupants, who was lying in the middle of the road. Twenty-seven-year-old Wallace Maddox of Lexington Park was pronounced dead at a hospital.
