Yessenia Martinez Rivas struck by car, later dies

A woman has died after police say she was struck by a car in Gaithersburg Monday evening.

Yessenia Martinez Rivas, 37, died just after 11 p.m. at Medstar, nearly six hours after she was hit.

Police say Daniel Levine was driving his Toyota Prius northbound on Muddy Branch Road and struck Martinez Rivas just north of Suffield Drive. He stayed on scene.

The accident is being investigated. Anyone with information should contact police.
