ARCH CAMPBELL
Your weekend movie guide: 11/23/12
If you’re looking for something to do this weekend other than shop, there are a lot of good movies to choose from.
Thanksgiving weekend looks pretty good at the movies, led by Ag Lee’s interpretation of “The Life of Pi.”
4 STARS:
'Lincoln' (PG-13)
'Skyfall' (PG-13)
'Argo' (R)
3 1/2 STARS:
'Silver Linings Playbook' (R)
'Anna Karenin' (R)
'Life of Pi' (PG) - A young boy survives a shipwreck, only to find himself sharing a lifeboat with a ravenous tiger.
3 STARS:
'Hitchcock' (PG-13)
'Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 4' (PG-13)
'Arbitrage' (R)
2 1/2 STARS:
'Rise of the Guardian' (PG) - “Rise of the Guardians” hopes to do for Santa and the Easter Bunny what “The Avengers” did for superheroes. Those two plus the Tooth fairy and the Sandman join Jack Frost to fight the boogeyman. “Rise of the Guardians” puts an edge to these characters. Be warned, the story gets a little dark, so the youngest should stay at home.
1 STAR:
'Taken 2' (PG-13)
0 STARS:
'Red Dawn' (PG-13) - Back in the eighties, Hollywood imagined a Russian invasion of Smalltown USA and a group of teenagers who fight back. A new remake makes the North Koreans the culprits with Chris Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson as freedom fighters. “Red Dawn” may make you laugh and that’s not a good sign. How about we just say you skip it?
