The brother of former D.C. Council Chairman Kwame Brown pleaded guilty Thursday to a bank fraud charge.

Che Brown was charged last week with claiming $35,000 in false income when he applied for a mortgage adjustment in 2010.

Kwame Brown's fast-rising political career was also derailed by a guilty plea to bank fraud. He resigned his seat in June after reaching a plea deal. Federal authorities began investigating the Browns after local officials found irregularities in Kwame Brown's campaign finance reports. But the bank fraud convictions are unrelated to political corruption.

Che Brown's plea hearing is scheduled for Thursday morning. It would be his second conviction for bank fraud. He also pleaded guilty to the charge in 1995.
