Dick's Sporting Goods suspends sale of guns
There’s a change at all Dick's Sporting Goods stores after the mass shooting in Newtown, Connecticut.
The company says in a statement on its website that “out of respect for the victims and their families, during this time of national mourning we have removed all guns from sale and from display in our store nearest to Newtown and suspended the sale of modern sporting rifles in all of our stores chain-wide.”
Officials with the company also continue to offer their sympathies to those affected by this tragedy.
CNN reports that investigators were trying to determine whether the gunman in the Newtown shooting tried to buy a gun from a dick's sporting goods store in a nearby town.
Officials with the store told CNN that based on records, they can confirm no firearms were sold to the suspect.
There's no word on how long the sales suspension on certain types of guns will last.
Meanwhile, another national retailer, Wal-Mart, says it hasn't made any changes to the different types of guns sold in stores.
