Don Dwyer charged in boat collision, expresses regret
Updated: December 21, 2012 - 01:22 pm
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - Republican Delegate Don Dwyer, charged in a boating accident, has expressed regret that he chose to operate a boat after drinking alcohol.
Dwyer was charged Thursday with operating a powerboat while drunk on the Magothy River in August. Several people were injured, including a young girl.
Dwyer said in an emailed statement on Friday that he was pleased that the findings of Maryland Natural Resource police don't reflect blame for the accident on him. Dwyer's boat and another vessel were involved in the accident. The other operator was charged with a so-called Rules of the Road violation, accused of failing to slow down or take other steps to avoid the collision.
Dwyer asked forgiveness of his constituents.
