Gaithersburg pedestrian accident: Two struck, one killed
Police are looking for the driver who struck two pedestrians in Gaithersburg, killing a 34-year-old man and injuring his older brother.
Montgomery County Police say two men were hit just after 1 a.m. Wednesday in front of the Avalon School on West Diamond Avenue.
Police believe it may not have been an accident and are now investigating this as a homicide. Sources tell ABC7 the incident may have been drug related.
Police say a 34-year-old man died. The other victim, who is also 34, told police he and his brother were given a ride by people in a black Honda Civic earlier Wednesday morning.
The man told police he and his brother were dropped off near the Gaitherstown Plaza at Route 355 and Chestnut Street and, as they were walking west on West Diamond Avenue, they were struck by the same black Honda Civic that they had being riding in moments earlier.
Police say the striking vehicle was located at a nearby shopping center with damage consistent with the crash, but the driver is still on the loose.
The surviving brother was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries. The identity of the victims has not been released.
The investigation is ongoing.
