I-195 car accident near BWI kills person
A two-car crash near Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport on Tuesday morning killed one person after a car crashed off an overpass and onto the freeway below.
The crash happened in the area of the I-95/I-195 interchange just after 7 a.m., Maryland State Police officials say, when the driver of a Ford Focus going northbound on 95 lost control of the car. The vehicle then hit a guardrail, went airborne and landed in the eastbound lanes of 195, striking a Chevrolet SUV on the freeway below.
Police say the driver of the Ford died at the scene, while the driver of the SUV was seriously injured as well. That person's condition is not known.
Eastbound I-195 was closed in the aftermath of the crash.
