I-495 lanes in Bethesda closed after tractor trailer overturns
A tractor-trailer carrying tens of thousands of pounds of fruit overturned on the Capital Beltway near Bethesda early Thursday morning, spilling part of its load across the roadway and slowing traffic in the area.
The truck, which was carrying a load of blueberries and pineapples, overturned just after the ramp for the I-270 spur on the highway.
The driver suffered minor injuries, ABC7 News has learned.
As of 7 a.m., the right lane of I-495 remains closed. It’s not clear what may have cause the crash.
Workers with Morton's Trucking are removing 70,000 pounds of fruit from the area, which is expected to take at least six hours.
