However, the judge said Wednesday that 19-year-old Michael Davis should remain in a hospital for tests. D.C. Superior Court Judge Robert E. Morin said at a hearing Wednesday that a report from doctors at St. Elizabeths Hospital is complicated and unusual.

The Washington Post reports that doctors found Davis capable of helping his attorneys prepare his defense. However, they also said they were concerned that mental issues could return or worsen. Davis has been diagnosed with mental disorders including schizophrenia.

Davis is the brother of NFL football players Vernon and Vontae Davis. He's charged in the April killing of Colorado tourist Gary Dederichs and with assaulting two others.
