Nova Y. Payton plays Effie White in Dreamgirls
December 17, 2012 - 07:15 pm
Dreamgirls takes its story from the true life rise of the Supremes in the 1960's and the replacement of one of the original singers. Nova Y. Payton devours the starring role of Effie White, the singer left behind.
It’s a role that made a star of Jennifer Holiday and enhanced the fame of Jennifer Hudson
Payton grew up in D.C. and started singing and dancing as a kid. She traveled the country in national tours of Smokey Joe's cafe and 3 Mo’ Divas.
Arch Campbell has Payton and news from the weekend box office.
