Pedestrian in Alexandria hit, killed on Braddock Road

A man was hit and killed while crossing Braddock Road in Alexandria Friday morning.
As a result of the incident, Braddock Road will remain closed for a couple of hours between Beauregard Street and Hampton Drive.
Alexandria Police Spokesperson Jody Donaldson says an adult male was crossing the road near Hampton Drive around 7 AM when he was struck in the westbound lanes by a vehicle. The pedestrian was not in a crosswalk. The driver struck a tree after hitting the person and remained on scene. The driver is being taken to an area hospital for minor injuries.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead on the scene.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
