Redskins fans excited about playoff potential
Sunday's win over the Philadelphia Eagles has the Washington Redskins in the driver's seat and heading into a showdown against the Dallas Cowboys.
A Redskins win during the primetime game would send the team into the playoffs.
Right now, the excitement felt by Redskins fans is at its highest point.
"I don't know how far we are going to go in the playoffs, but at least we got this far," said fan Henry Jose said. "...we didn't expect to get this far."
Everywhere you looked a day after the Redskins' sixth win in a row, you could see people proudly displaying their team's colors - burgundy and gold.
Redskins fan Joe Green said of his Redskins jacket, "It's been up in the attic for three or four years. My wife bought it a long time ago...and they were playing so bad. But now they finally pulled it out."
Last-minute holiday shoppers scurried in Bethesda; many picking up Redskins jerseys.
Shopper Neil Cullen said, "Christmas Eve is the best time 25 percent off."
Robert Griffin III jerseys, in particular, were flying off the shelf.
The Redskins will play the Cowboys Dec. 30 at FedEx Field.
The game was moved from an afternoon start time to 8:20 p.m. because of its playoff implications. Metro says its trains will run an hour later than usual to accommodate fans.
