Pedestrian struck, killed on Route 7

An adult male was hit by a car and killed on westbound Route 7 in Potomac, Maryland on Monday morning.
Loudoun Sheriff Spokesperson Liz Mills says a 39 year old female was driving westbound on Route 7 in a 1998 Dodge Van when she hit the man in the roadway. The man was transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital where he later died.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation at this time. The driver remained on the scene.
As a result of the incident, two right lanes on westbound Route 7 are blocked.
