Springfield groper attacks possible 12th victim, police say
The Springfield groper may have struck again, police say.
In what would be the 12th incident involving a man sexually assaulting women in Fairfax County since September, a 49-year-old woman told authorities that she was groped while running on Tuesday morning.
“This is somebody who doesn't appear to be giving up, and so we would continue to encourage vigilance,” says Fairfax County Police Spokeswoman Lucy Caldwell.
The assault happened just before 10:30 a.m. Tuesday on Blarney Stone Drive near Omega Court, officials say. Fairfax County Police say that the suspect ran up behind the victim and fondled her. Police say the man fled after she hit him.
As with many of the other assaults in this suspected string of gropings, the suspect was described as a 25 to 30-year-old Hispanic man wearing a red cap, black jacket and blue jeans.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Fairfax County Police.
