December 12, 2012 - 11:46 am
South Carolina is ready to bring a little humor to their state’s politics.
Stephen Colbert is the top choice to replace Senator Jim DeMint, according to a recent poll by Public Policy Polling.
“Colbert tops the wish list of who South Carolina voters would like to see join that body at 20%, followed by Tim Scott at 15%, Trey Gowdy at 14%, Jenny Sanford at 11%, Henry McMaster and Mark Sanford at 8%, Jeff Duncan and Joe Wilson at 5%, and Mick Mulvaney at 4%,” the poll said.
Republican U.S. Sen. Jim DeMint, a favorite among tea party activists, resigned to become president of the conservative think tank, the Heritage Foundation.
