Today’s look at the caged-animals of the pop-culture world finds a zoo date, Lady Gaga posing with un-caged lions, the continuing saga of Chris Brown and Rihanna, many other things, and the mystery music video.

HMMM, WHERE TO GO?: Ah, the Central Park Zoo, per Us Weekly, “Less than 24 hours after Taylor Swift performed during KIIS-FM's Jingle Ball at the Nokia Theatre in L.A, the country music superstar flew to New York City to spend time with One Direction's Harry Styles. After flirting on the X Factor set in mid-November, the musicians have been hoping to spend more time together -- and they finally got their chance Dec. 2.” http://usm.ag/11CPZIR

VEGAS-BOUND: And that’s not a bad thing, per the New York Times, “For Shania Twain, who not a decade ago was one of the biggest pop stars in the country, Las Vegas means a second chance. On Saturday night she was at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace for the opening night of a residency during which she will perform several dozen shows over the next two years.” http://nyti.ms/SGAcVh

PRETTY COOL: But seemingly dangerous, per People, “As if Lady Gaga could get any more wild, she recently embarked on a safari while touring in South Africa. Gaga – who surprised fans in Rio de Janeiro by playing soccer with neighborhood children earlier this month – took to Twitter to share her excitement over a pride of lions. "SAFARI PICTURE: in this photo I'm about 10 feet from 13 lions, 2 cubs. I spent about 30 minutes w them and took a nap!" she Tweeted on Saturday, revealing a hat modified to fit her high ponytail.” http://bit.ly/TDgJ79

BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU ASK FOR: Might not like the answer, per E!, “Chris Brown returned to Twitter Sunday, following his vulgar online spat with comedian Jenny Johnson. But, while his page appears to be back up and running, the "Don't Wake Me Up" singer has yet to tweet anything (all of his previous tweets have been deleted). Brown has been active on his NSFW Instagram handle, however, posting a photo of himself and a scantily clad Rihanna Sunday morning with the caption, "What would music today sound like if these kids didn't exist?" http://eonli.ne/VeE0Mj

BOX-OFFICE BUST: Of a soft death, per The Hollywood Reporter, “After receiving a rare F CinemaScore from moviegoers, Brad Pitt's independent crime drama Killing Them Softly opened nationwide to a soft $7 million from 2,424 theaters, coming in No. 7. Directed by Andrew Dominik, the violent crime drama becomes only the eighth movie ever to receive the failing grade. Killing Them Softly and George Clooney's Solaris are the only nonhorror titles among the bunch.” http://bit.ly/TCwBqE

MEANWHILE: Keeping things relatively tame pays, per The Wrap, “Hollywood studios have released 33 percent more R-rated films in 2012 than last year, but the wealth of adult offerings hasn't translated into a box office boom. Instead, audiences have flocked to PG-13 fare. This year, 168 films have carried the "restricted" rating, which requires youths under 17 to be accompanied by an adult, and they have taken in $2.3 billion at the box office. That compares to 113 PG-13 films, with a $4.7 billion take, and 52 PG movies with a combined gross of $1.8 billion.” http://bit.ly/XgukqL

MAY THE FORCE BE WITH HIM: per Entertainment Weekly, “Producer Rick McCallum — who was instrumental in the resurrection of the Star Wars franchise, from the “Special Edition” re-releases of the first trilogy to the prequel trilogy Star Wars films — is leaving Lucasfilm to pursue producing independent films.” http://bit.ly/SEKB3I

OSCAR PEEK: Keep this one on the Radar, per indieWIRE, “If the Academy Awards pundits (Indiewire's own Peter Knegt included) are to be trusted, Marion Cotillard will in all likelihood be up for her second golden statue next year thanks to her searing performance in "Rust and Bone," Jacques Audiard's moving follow-up to his Oscar-nominated 2009 crime drama "A Prophet." (Cotillard made history in 2008 as the first to take home the Best Actress award for a French-language performance, for her work as Edith Piaf in "La Vie En Rose").” http://bit.ly/RwtXqh

PUT YOUR CLOTHES BACK ON: Imagine if Hef did this, per Entertainment Tonight, “The 2013 Pirelli Calendar shot by famed photographer Steve McCurry is making headlines for actually being more modest this year, departing from the traditional nude photographs seen in previous Pirelli Calendars, and opting to show the models clothed.” http://bit.ly/SBtEsB

NASCAR: Well, kind of, per Radar, “Emily Maynard is "majorly feuding" with her daughter’s grandparents, Rick and Linda Hendrick, as concerns grow that the former Bachelorette is putting her career and thirst for fame before the best interests of seven-year-old Josephine Riddick “Ricki” Hendrick, a source close to the situation tells RadarOnline.com exclusively.” http://rdar.co/11GtmU3

A WEDDING CAKE: Just the facts, per Extra, “(The show’s) host, Mario Lopez married his girlfriend of four years, Courtney Mazza, Saturday in Punta Minta, Mexico. . . Courtney was wearing a dress designed by Ines di Santo, and her 2-year-old daughter Gia looked adorable in a dress that matched her mother’s. Mario and Courtney walked their little flower girl down the aisle.” http://bit.ly/VksOzu
