It seems everyone thinks a traffic signal should be installed at the 16th Street traffic circle in Maryland.

The circle, where Colesville Road intersects with 16th Street, is known as a source of anxiety, and accidents, for those who travel through it.

“It is not your imagination that there are a lot of accidents there,” D.C. Council member Muriel Bowser (D-Ward 4) said at a recent community meeting, according to the Washington Post.

“We know that it is only going to get worse as the area is more developed, and it is not just cars we are worried about,” Bowser said, according to the Post.

D.C. police recorded 12 traffic crashes in 2012 at the circle, which the D.C. Department of Transportation says is used by almost 32,000 vehicles a day, the Post reported.

Despite the high accident incidents rate, and Maryland’s endorsement four years ago to install a traffic signal, no actual movement towards getting a signal installed has been made.
