Raasheem Rich stabbed to death outside SE liquor store
Updated: January 13, 2013 - 12:56 pm
Police in the District have released video of the suspect wanted for stabbing a man to death outside a liquor store in Southeast Thursday. It is the city's first murder of 2013.
MPD officials say the incident happened just before 3:30 p.m Thursday at a liquor store in the 2800 block of Alabama Avenue SE, where the victim, 40-year-old Raasheem Rich and the suspect got into an argument. It then escalated into a physical altercation, which continued outside the store.
Shortly thereafter, Rich was stabbed and killed, police say. He died at an area hospital.
An initial description of a suspect describes him as wearing a black skullcap, a grey jacket, tan pants and a bright yellow reflective vest.
Eighty-eight people were murdered in the District of Columbia in 2012, one of the lowest totals in the city in decades.
A reward of up to $25,000 is offered for information that leads to an arrest.
The investigation into the stabbing continues.
