January 8, 2013 - 12:04 pm
A Sterling woman arrested on child neglect and malicious wounding charges is also being investigated after two dogs were found dead at the scene of the alleged crime.
Police arrested Aleta James, 32, after she allegedly assaulted a 51-year-old woman at a residence in the 100 block of North Filmore Avenue.
Authorities say two dogs, a Miniature Poodle and a Yorkshire Terrier, were also injured during the alleged assault and later died from their injuries.
Loudoun Department of Animal Services Director Tom Koenig says they are in the early stages of the investigation. James is not facing charges in connection with the slain dogs.
