Custis Trail robbery and assault leads to three arrests
Arlington County police arrested three men in connection with a robbery on the Custis Trail.
Officers were called to the area near I-66 and Glebe Road at 12:50 p.m. for reports of an assault and robbery.
The victim told police he was approached by three males as he ran on the trail. The suspects robbed him, taking his watch and sunglasses. Police say the victim was also struck on the head.
While at the scene, officers received a second call for an incident involving someone displaying a weapon n the trail. The victim was able to run away uninjured and call police.
Police say they arrested three males in their 20s near the Ballston Metro in connection with the two incidents. Police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck said one of the men had a gun in his possession, which police believe was used to strike the first victim.
The names of the suspects has not been released.
The victim who was assaulted was taken to Virginia Hospital Center for treatment of his head injury.
