CULPEPER, Va. (AP) - A suspect in a fatal hit-and-run accident in Fauquier County has been arrested.
Virginia State Police tell media outlets that Culpeper police acting on a tip arrested 32-year-old Diego Vazquez Mendoza without incident Wednesday.
Mendoza is accused of driving a pickup truck that rear-ended a compact car on U.S. 17 on Dec. 23. The car then crashed into another vehicle. The car's driver, 58-year-old Douglas Rabren of Stafford, died at the scene.
State police say Mendoza fled the scene on foot before troopers arrived.
He's being held without bond in the Fauquier County Adult Detention Center.
