Edward Zepp, 61, of Westminster murdered in his home; suspect arrested

WESTMINSTER, Md. (AP) - Police are investigating the murder of a Westminster man who was found dead on his back porch and have a suspect in custody.
Maryland State Police say 61-year-old Edward Zepp was found early Saturday morning at his home on West Main Street in Westminster. He had apparently been assaulted.
Anne Arundel County police detained a suspect Saturday afternoonHe has been identified as David M. Montgomery, 28, of no fixed address. State Police charged Montgomery with first and second degree murder.
Police were called to the home around 4 a.m. to find Zepp lying on the back porch with trauma to his neck.
Investigators say the man lived alone in a downstairs apartment of a two-story home.
Sounds of a struggle were heard from the victim's apartment overnight. Police say the door at the back of the apartment appears to be damaged.
Police are asking any witnesses to come forward with information.
