ESPN's Rob Parker contract not renewed after RG3 'kind of black' comments
January 9, 2013 - 04:59 am
ESPN will not renew the contract of commentator Rob Parker, who made racial comments about Redskins star Robert Griffin III.
Parker is the ESPN commentator who caused controversy in December for declaring that RG3 "wasn't black." Parker was suspended directly after the comments were made.
After the cable network’s initial suspension, it announced that his contract had expired at the end of 2012—and after evaluating Paker’s work, including his comments on Griffin, it decided not to renew his deal.
