Flu cases spike this flu season
January 8, 2013 - 06:53 am
Sick calls at offices and schools are on the rise—thanks to the flu.
“One minute I'm 1,000 degrees sweating to death and the next I'm four degrees freezing to death,” said Matt Head, 28, who is suffering from the flu.
The Centers for Disease Control says this is the earliest start to a flu season in about a decade—more than 2,200 people have been hospitalized and 18 children have died.
Trying to protect themselves from getting sick, many in our area are making time to get a flu shot.
The demand for the vaccine was so high many pharmacies, like one Safeway in Fairfax, ran out over the weekend. New shipments are coming in daily.
