Millersville fire believed to be accidental
Updated: January 5, 2013 - 08:28 pm
A woman was killed in a house fire in the Marley area of Anne Arundel County Friday night. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner identified her Saturday as Shari Lee DeStefano, 50.
Firefighters found the woman in the basement of the one-story, multiple family home on Sumac Road around 10:20 p.m. She was taken to the Baltimore Washington Medical Center and died shortly after midnight.
It took close to 50 firefighters about 30 minutes to get the fire under control. There were no working smoke detectors and the fire is believed to be accidental.
Nine adults and two children were given assistance by the Red Cross. This is the second fatal fire in the county this year.
