FREDERICK, Md. (AP) - The city of Frederick has a new police chief.

The Board of Aldermen on Thursdays approved Mayor Randy McClement's recommendation to give the job to Acting Chief Thomas Ledwell.

Ledwell has been acting chief since Kim Dine resigned in November to become chief of the U.S. Capitol Police.

Ledwell has spent his entire 21-year police career in Frederick.

He says his goals include more community policing and expanding the department's use of computer-generated data.
