UPS driver robbed at gunpoint, police say
It ended on Alabama and Reed in SE, but started nearby just before noon. The driver dropping off packages was approached by two masked men who held him at gunpoint and demanded packages in his truck.
“It’s kind of scary because I have small children,” Renee Brooks.
Brooks and her three children live across the street from where the truck ended after the holdup.
“Kidnapping? That’s kind of crazy. It’s scary to think people are out here doing this already in the new year. We need to change. Things need to change,” she says.
Investigators spent most of the afternoon gathering evidence and talking to neighbors, hoping someone saw something.
“I was just shocked to see the police because this is a very quiet neighborhood and you don’t get a lot of incidents like this around,” says one neighbor.
UPS sent relief trucks to deliver the packages that were not stolen. Police say nearly 90 packages were taken.
The suspects got away in a white cargo van.
