Anne Arundel teacher on administrative leave following viral video
An Anne Arundel County teacher has been placed on administrative leave after a video surfaced showing her berating a middle school student.
The incident was apparently recorded by another student and shows Anne Arundel Middle School teacher Latesha Blue loudly confronting a 7th grade girl she called "disrespectful."
The rant continues, and at one point, a frightened boy seems to brace himself.
"I'm gonna tell you one more time," Blue says in the video. She calls the student a "little girl" who "can't even reach my level."
The girl argues back, saying, "You'll get fired...get out of my face. You're spitting all over me."
Last Wednesday's incident wound up on Facebook, and Blue was placed on administrative leave while officials investigate.
Anne Arundel County Public Schools Spokesman Bob Mosier says the principal has met with parents to assure them this is not acceptable - or typical - behavior.
"It's a very disturbing incident. Not indicative at all of the great work that teachers across our county do every day. We're taking it very seriously," said Mosier.
"I seen her yelling; I never seen her yell like that before," said student Deondre Diggs.
