Road closures forced by crashes, icy roads throughout area
Two separate accidents on the Arlington Memorial Bridge closed all of its outbound lanes Thursday morning, one of several crashes and incidents that can be attributed to icy and click roads
U.S. Park Police officials say that the two crashes - one involving two cars and another involving three - caused the closure of the westbound lanes of the Memorial Bridge just before 6:15 a.m.
Two people reportedly suffered minor injuries in the accidents. The lanes reopened about an hour later.
Icy conditions also shut down the Fairfax County Parkway in both directions near Rolling Road due to icy conditions for several hours. MATOC officials have urged drivers on Twitter to find another way around the area.
Montgomery County officials are reporting numerous road closures due to icy roads as well. The closures include the ramp from southbound Interstate 270 to southbound Rockville Pike and southbound Rockville Pike between Grosvenor Lane and the Beltway.
A four-car crash cause by icy conditions also shut down southbound Colesville Road near the Capital Beltway, Montgomery County Police say.
