Caps fan diagnosed with cancer gets special gift from Ted Leonsis
At this point, Jack Dibler probably knows the letter by heart.
Dibler is a huge Washington Capitals fan. He doesn't just rock the red: He relishes it. But in December, he was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. It has not stopped him from getting to the games.
Dibler has taught in Maryland public schools for almost 40 years. One of Jack's former colleagues, NewsChannel 8 meteorologist Dave Zahren, wrote a letter to Caps owner Ted Leonsis about Dibler.
Soon enough, there was a package at Dibler's door from Leonsis. It was a package that included a signed Alexander Ovechkin jersey and a letter inviting Dibler and his family to a game.
Dibler and his wife Eileen will take Leonsis up on his offer. And hopefully, they will get to thank him in person.
